Welcome to STEEL PROFILE® #102
We've had outstanding feedback from our readers on the recent redesign, so thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts about issue #101.
This issue our featured projects range from a community church in Brisbane to the RSPCA's new Quarantine Kennels in Burwood, Victoria, via housing and a leisure facility. All five projects display innovative use of steel in structure, cladding and design resolution.
BlueScope Steel is the principal corporate partner of the Australian Institute of Architects' national awards program, so we're pleased to profile the team that designed last year's COLORBOND® Steel Award winner: Aurora Energy's Southern Operations Facility in Tasmania.
We also reveal the considered approach that underpins the EDO Apartment development in Woolloomooloo NSW, which picked up the Frederick Romberg Award for Residential Architecture - Multiple Housing, at the awards.
BlueScope Steel is also the principal corporate partner of the Institute's national conference, which runs from April 30-May 2 this year at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mark it in your diary. This year's creative directors are Terroir architects Gerard Reinmuth, Richard Blythe and Scott Balmforth, so we are particularly pleased in this issue to showcase Scott's own home – Smith Street Ware(House) in North Hobart.
